Set up in a small corridor at the Port of Brisbane, Pipeline Drillers commenced the hole expecting manageable ground conditions, however, were soon faced with fractured ground consisting of cobbles and gravels.

Additional geotechnical investigations were conducted in an attempt to investigate the ground conditions at differing depths. The team worked tirelessly on a double shift rotation to ensure the ground conditions could be effectively managed and achieve a successful pipe installation.

The project involved the stringing, welding and field joint coating of 158 lengths of pipe. Due to limited space, the pipe was welded into two complete strings requiring a golden weld to be conducted during the pullback activities.
