The TERHAP Western Rising Main HDD project in Launceston, Tasmania, was designed to reduce effluent overflow into the kanamaluka/Tamar River while minimizing disruption to the environment and local community. The project faced significant challenges, including unstable ground conditions with cobbles and boulders, which required a careful and adaptive approach. To navigate these obstacles, the team used precise drilling methods and strategic bore designs with carefully planned entry and exit points. Special casing was installed to reinforce key areas and prevent instability, while advanced guidance technology helped maintain accuracy throughout the process.

Despite the tough conditions, the project was completed successfully with minimal impact on the surrounding area. The use of trenchless technology allowed work to be carried out efficiently without major disruptions. The final installation process was carefully managed to ensure safety and avoid unnecessary delays. Pipeline Drillers’ expertise and problem-solving approach made this project a success, demonstrating the effectiveness of HDD in overcoming complex ground conditions while delivering essential infrastructure improvements.
