Pipeline Drillers backs future baseball stars

July 18, 2017

For the first time, Pipeline Drillers has sponsored the Little League Gold Coast Pirates in their bid for the 2017 Australian National Championships held in Lismore last month.

The Pirates celebrated a 5-4 win over the 2014 National Champions the Perth Central Firebirds despite drawing one of the more challenging pools coming up against a number of the most well-known top performing teams.

Team organisers reported that although the team finished fourth in their pool missing out on a spot in the finals, this was an excellent experience for these 14 juniors who had never competed in nationals before.

The Pirates Charter is the second largest baseball club in Queensland with 280 junior members, run by volunteers with the exclusion of a paid regional development officer, as with many junior sports teams the Gold Coast Pirates relies heavily on sponsorships from local businesses.

Special thanks to Gold Coast Pirates who visited Head Office over the school holidays for a tour of the yard with workshop welder Josh Patrick, whose son competed with the team, as well as present Pipeline Drillers Managing Director John Whitbread with a team baseball and framed team photo.

Pipeline Drillers is extremely proud to have had the opportunity to be the major sponsor of the Little League Gold Coast Pirates and wish them all the best for Season 2018.
