Scope

4 × 250m HDD installations of 630mm, 560mm and 800mm
HDPE pipelines beneath Currumbin Creek.

Challenges

​

Pipeline Drillers were challenged with the task of designing
and setting up the worksite to ensure minimal disturbance
to the community. Pipeline Drillers recognised various
environmental constraints within the original design
and worked alongside Demacs Constructions and the
Department of Main Roads to overcome the exceptionally
challenging conditions to provide a constructible profile.

Outcome

Steel casing was installed on entry at each bore location to
a depth of 30 m to stabilise this vulnerable section of the
bore hole. The team utilised the Herrenknecht HDD250 to
install all four bores efficiently.
