Scope

​

HDD installation works within a constrained corridor
at the Port of Brisbane, including installation of 610mm
steel pipeline.

 

Challenges

​

Pipeline Drillers commenced the hole expecting
manageable ground conditions, however were soon faced
with fractured ground consisting of cobbles and gravels.
Additional geotechnical investigations were conducted to
investigate the ground conditions at differing depths.

 

Outcome

​​

The team worked on a double shift rotation to ensure the
ground conditions could be effectively managed and
achieve a successful pipe installation. The project involved
the stringing, welding and field joint coating of 158 lengths
of pipe, including a golden weld during pullback activities.
